EMPOWERING YOUNG SOUTH AFRICANS

Established in 2004, the Dame Hilary Cropper Foundation supports historically

disadvantaged young South Africans by providing tangible help

and practical assistance to offer hope for a positive future

OUR STORY

The Dame Hilary Cropper Foundation was established in 2004 by Dame Hilary and her husband Peter. They set up an endowment fund to benefit young, disadvantaged South Africans, thanks to their love of the country and its people

PARTNERS

For well over ten years, in addition to establishing its own programme under the Youth Development Academy umbrella, the Foundation has supported and worked closely with a small number of NGO partners

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

In 2011, the Foundation turned its attention to one of the greatest challenges facing South Africa, that of youth unemployment, where over 50% of 18-25 year olds are jobless.  Its aim: to design a breakthrough model for youth development capable of delivering long-term, sustainable change

TRUSTEES

The Foundation’s Trustees are drawn from a close group of family and friends and their philosophy reflects Dame Hilary’s belief that strong personal relationships offer a sound basis for successful working partnerships

The first programme to be based on the Foundation's pioneering youth development model is the Pinotage Youth Development Academy, a 12-month programme for 18-25 year old unemployed South Africans resident in the Cape Winelands

SUPPORT US

The Foundation has aspirations to increase its impact and give more previously-disadvantaged young South Africans the opportunity to access sustainable employment
